I am convinced that Widmore needs Miles, Charlotte, and Daniel to be there in order for him to come back, the same way that Ben needs the O6 plus Locke.
Abbadon shows Naomi the crew and she doesn't understand why she is bringing them: "a nutcase, an archaeologist, and a ghostbuster...". They also didn't really do anything in terms of experiments, not to mention that they had no contact with Widmore anyway--also why send your scientists into hostile territory before your wet team? I think instead that Miles, Charlotte, and Daniel where on the island (not necessarily born there) when Widmore leaves. Why he leaves is obviously speculative but I think he was forced out right around when Richard hears that Ben saw his mother, who died in America, on the island--demonstrating Ben's power/power to lead. We know that Widmore tells Ben "everything you have you took from me" which suggests Widmore was the leader of the others. If he is forced out around Ben's arrival (somewhere between 1972-75), that allows plenty of time for Widmore to climb up the ranks of others from his position under Richard, and also explains why Ben wouldn't know Miles, Charlotte, or Daniel. So, when Widmore leaves, Miles, Charlotte, and Daniel (and maybe others, I am thinking baby versions of 815ers and that Widmore was more involved in the actual crashing of that plane!) leave as well. |

I'm thinking Widmore is gonna use the Atom Bomb to blow the island up. He needs them all to find it.
Earth, Science, Spirits... with their power combine... He is Captain Widmore... Captain Widmore, he's our hero, gonna take pollution down to zero.. doo doo doo....

good thought here by OP.
We have good reason to believe Charlotte has been on the island before (Miles said so) We have great reason to believe Ellie is Faraday's mum. We have some reason to think maybe Miles is Chang's son. And we know Widmore grouped these specific people, to send them to the island Interesting ties.

His agenda is to get the island back. Remember in "TSOTTC" he said to Ben "everything you have you took from me" and "that island is mine Benjamin, always has been and will be again".

I don't know... why have Chang have a baby if it wasn't going to be something important he could of easily not had a baby or fed a pet... I don't think I am making the connection solely on nationality.
Lapidus is interesting too, even though he doesn't seem like he will have a prominent role, he was meant to be on 815, and the pilot in his place is immediately killed by the black smoke, maybe that explains the black smokes actions a little--only allowing people who are meant to be there. Think about Eko, who was also supposed to be there on the beachcraft, when he finally does get there the black smoke approaches him but doesn't kill him. I think that has less to do with Eko being a total baddass and more with the fact that the island had a mission for him, and even though he is ten years late, the island will let him live until he carries it out. |

That is precisely what I said in the post... I am just saying in order to execute I think he needs Miles, Char, and Dan to be there.

That's why I think he is forced out or rescues the island (similar to Ben w/ the frozen donkey wheel) right around the time that Ben gets there. That's 20 years after we see Widmore as "just another other" (clever daft), and since he already claims to know a lot about the island this would be plenty of time for him to ascend the ranks.

I guess we know now what Keamy meant when he said that his orders were to "torch the island". Widmore knows where the hydrogen bomb is buried, and perhaps he told Keamy to detonate it?
