If you believe it your "nature" to hide what you're truly feeling, then maybe you need to sit and re-examine things a bit. If those people are truly your friends, then they won't bail on you.

I used to be like you...I finally gave up trying to be something for everyone and just be what I am for me. There's nothing wrong with putting others before yourself and being kind, just don't lose yourself in the process. I feel for you, I really do because I SO understand what you're saying.

I also used to be that way, coxie. Turned 30, started living for me. Not that I am not a good friend/ listener, but I started thinking of me more...

I have fabulous friends who mean the world to me and have been with be through the best and the worst. It's just difficult because they have all moved back to Baltimore, DC, Harrisburg, NYC, and Jersey and I'm still at my University. I have some friends here but they're younger, and a bit immature.

I think it has a lot to do with how different this semester is compared to my past four years. It's definately an adjustment. I might just be freaking out from all the changes going on right now.

all my "friends" are back on the East Coast, at least any friends I have left after actually making a decision for myself and getting out here to try the whole music-thing.

I honestly have 0 people that I can talk to face-to-face out here that I consider a personal friend. :/

Well then hell with the new friends. You've still got your circle, and those are the ones that matter. Don't make yourself miserable in the pursuit of impressing people who are basically placeholders until you meet up with your old friends.
