Have you noticed that interview with Michael Emerson?

I believe the in reality is that they are moving the bunny at or near the speed of light, which would have it travelling through spacetime at a much faster rate than the observers can see, thusit appears to vanish. This is what happens to the Island, IMO. it isn't moving backward, it's moving faster than we can see it through time and space, thus in our eyes, it seems to vanish. This jaunt through spacetime is going to leave the island, and possibly everyone on it, "unstuck" in time, and experiencing the islands history in erratic, and potentially deadly ways. So it does make sense that the beach camp might not be there if you're standing there when the Islands consciousness is reliving 1988, for example. |

So if the beach camp disappears due to the island moving to a time when it wasn't there, then why do the Losties not also disappear? They weren't on the island at that time either.

You're absolutely correct in saying that if they physically moved back in time the beach camp would still exist. but if they are interacting with the island's consciousness as it existed before they crashed, there would appear to be no beach camp. basically, they will be interacting with the islands memory, not it's physical existence. |

If the island has reverted to an earlier version of itself while the people on it remain the same, this might fit in with this theory. The simulation program has reset to an earlier version of the island for whatever reason... Regular time travel concepts just don't seem to apply here. Maybe all the time travel stuff is meant to be a red herring to throw the audience in the wrong direction...

I hate the simulation idea. In fact, if that's how the series ends I'm going to kill myself. Okay... I don't have the guts to do that but I will bite myself or something.
Thankfully, I think the creators have ruled out that possibility. They've constantly stated that when people die on the island they die in real life. That was possible with the Matrix, but I don't know about it this time. |

i agree, i hope it doesn't end like that, because a. it has been done many times and b. it it'll take away from the mystery of the island.
