Roger specifically mentioned DHARMA, also, and the underwater island definitely had the DHARMA barracks/sonic fence on it.
I'm starting to think this theory is only a little bit correct. I think I'm missing about half of the "big picture."
You heard it here first folks!! I'm going out on a limb to say that the Alt was created by Jacob to "fix" his mistake. The Alt is where they will dump Smokey (probably into Locke's newly repaired body) since they can't (or won't due to Jacob) kill him. Somehow Desmond will be the facillitator of the exchange, likely bringing "ready" Alt personalities back to the island reality. The epilogue will be that MIB/Smokey does get off the island, but in a reality that does not affect the space/time continuim.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it (At least until late Sunday night!!) LOL

I just read this theory, and I think the dude is onto something. The theory reads so Lostesque that I'm prepared to take back all the stuff I've said about the Sideways being the "happy ending."
Yeah he might be on to something but I'm not sure I'm on board with the whole thing.
What if everything is connected through infinite timelines. For Example: Walt is in his older self form when he saves Locke. Locke could jump through the door of light in the church to jump into Esau's body/ M.I.B, and live again, Jack can do the same to come back to life much like when the actually die on the plane, but there ALT self is brought instead of MLT. What if Daniel Faraday remembers everything and goes to the sunken island, but it just has to have the light activated so he plugs it back in, and flashes to prevent his death to occur to make a video with Dr. Chang to prevent the Purge from occuring, and then to stop the Purge, but fails, and you need the ALT time to return back. So they were in 1977, and detonated the bomb then drowned the island, so people on the Sub escape, Ben, his Dad, ect. thats why his father had a severe condition in Season 6 ALT timeline. What if when Daniel plugged it back in the Losties could go back to the island, and change what happened from not occuring to re-arrange into the original timeline. So basically the Pulgatory was a way for the M.I.B for winning. Locke could finally get his revenge on Ben for killing him. This could be why Richard said that he watched them die when he saw the people in the 1977 picture. So they could live on until the Purge time to die, but then come back to life with there ALT lifes. So basically you can neverch is real, and prevents how you died to be die, because you produce DMT in the brain which creates how you died or how somebody died into a dream.
