Light look very different then the strong yellow light we saw in ATS. Also Damcar hinted that it did indeed go out and it was significant in a recent interview but not explicitly.

Read for yourself. I might just be biased in my interpretation.

Them not including the outrigger scene really does put a hamper on things, doesn't it? Not only to close the time loop and have it make sense, but FFS someone was shot and they know who it was and refuse to tell us! Those jerks!

Maybe that was going to be how Juliet died, but they had to do it prematurely because of V. There should still be ways to close the loop if they don't do it explicitly on screen. It could just be Widmore's goons or something. But they really are dropping the ball on this one. I try hard to let certain things go, but I'm not doing that on this one. It's a serious error not to do that, because Season 5's time travel was all consistent with "Whatever Happened Happened" with the possible exception of the Incident itself and its relation to the sideways, presuming that explanation has to do with a different reality because things got changed at the Incident. To have this one that doesn't get fulfilled is especially lame, because it would have been so easy to work that into an earlier episode in the season with Widmore's goons (or to do it in What They Died For with Widmore going to the temple) even if they had to change who it was in the outrigger from who it had originally been intended to be.

I was thinking when the light went out (or greatly dimmed), the heating effect of the light was also greatly reduced and that is related to the temperature drop we later see in the wheel area. Remenber MIB was working in there in normal clothes, while Ben had to wear a parka. This would imply that the natural geologic condition of the area behind the wheel is strongly heat-absorbing. Does that make it akin to a Black Hole?

Not to burst anyone Desmond-Love Bubble, but I have this feeling that even though Desmond is special, when he ends up in that hole, nothing good will happen to him, especially considering he's not a main cast Lostie (in my opinion).

Desmond is going to be the one who merges the realities :P
By going into the electromagnetism/light something will happen to where the realities connect. (Hope not)

Interesting point hadn't thought of that. Very possible

In regards to Des merging the two timelines do we have any spoilers suggesting that the timelines actually do merge. I'm still of the opinion that they won't but the alt conclusion will answer the biggest question of the show which is why Jacob/MiB and the island matter. (What difference the absence of those three makes in AR) Just my opinion though
