Is Cindy brainwashed? Or was she one of Jacob's disciples from the start?
She disappeared without a warning when Sawyer was being carried across the island.
She encouraged the tailies to stay on the beach.
I think we've been fooled all along. I think Cindy was on 815 to assist in jacob's plan.
Okay. Now that I've said that, go ahead and tell me why I'm so wrong.
(I think I'm right. In fact, I think she might be one of the most important characters on the show)

I hate the flashbacks too but I don't understand the hate for Bai Ling. She is pretty and did ok with the material they gave her. I don't get why the Thai guys beat up Jack though..I mean just because he got a tatoo? It's like they are trying to make Thai people look crazy or something.

Yeah, the problem with that storyline is that it makes absolutely no sense, not within the episode and not within the larger context of the series. I had assumed at the time it had something to do with Others that were off island, perhaps, so that Jack had encountered them BEFORE he came to the island, but there's no evidence of that. And maybe she was "special" like Miles, Hurley, Walt, etc., but we don't really know and it sort of doesn't matter. I guess we could view it, obliquely, as another warning about asking too many questions or poking your nose in things you don't understand.

Bai Ling is not pretty and she's not a good actress. The flashback story is really bad but I quite enjoy the Island events. They're very reminiscent of the 1960's series - The Prisoner (of which heavily influenced this series and many more).
