You know, now that you'd brought it up, it's bugging me too!

If we consider "Island Time" using the time it moved and put a pin in it, it's only a few hours since Ben moved the Island, compared to LA time which I believe was te same as Ocean Time when Dez Penny & Baby Charlie are on the boat... as about 3 years later. Indeed, why would an the action Faraday took with Dez sometime in "the past" suddenly jump into Dez's mind about 3 years after he left the island; where "realtime" from the time the Island moved to when it was happening is equivalent to when Dez & the Oceanic 6 were actually on the raft before Penny even found them.

    ....very perturbing indeed.

yeah, hopefully they come up with something, but storytelling-wise this is the ideal way, since it felt seamless. and i understand that the answer is probably that time is not as we really experience it and the past present and future are all the same. but still, why this exact moment in time did desmond have this "memory dream"?

This is really bugging me too. Maybe the further you travel from the Island, the faster time moves for you, relative to the Island?

That would explain Walt aging so fast off-Island.

But if that were the case I would have expected to find that the Oceanic 6 had been missing for 9 years or so, when they rescued, even though it had seemed like only 108 days to them.

Walt didn't age quickly. Every scene we he is in after leaving the island it's 3 years later for him. (within the mythology of the show... in reality, it's been 5 years and he's no longer a kid! )

Default woman at the rainbow drive in

Is the woman at the rainbow drive in where Sayid and Hurley get their food in "Because You Left" Locke's old girlfriend Helen? It looks an awful lot like her.

what i don't understand is why he didn't recognize daniel. but i think maybe that's what he meant by the rules not applying...
I also don't understand why John doesn't recognize Richard. Or did he and I've just forgotten? I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't recognize him when he looks exactly the same.

I may have missed the boat on this one, but when Daniel is talking to Desmond outside of the hatch, it seems like Desmond notices the flash. If he noticed it then he would have moved with Dan, right? Did he?

Big ups to Eko for the sig.

I noticed it too. He seemed to notice it, maybe because he's sensitive to it, but didn't "move" 'cause it wasn't for him. I know - screwy.
