I totally agree with you about the jokes. But I think those of us that object to offensive material need to refrain from using it ourselves.

I could have alerted the mods to have the post deleted, but I thought I'd ask you directly first, because your comment is valid.

Not everyone in that thread is making jokes about the plane crash. Most of us are trying to be compassionate and sympathetic - it's just a couple of people made some really distasteful remarks, and then everyone starting fighting about decency - now I'm just trying to calm everyone down.
