I read somewhere...probably on the wiki...that after Hurley's episode aired something like 50,000 people used the numbers in Michigan's lotto.

I've never used them for lotto, but I did play 4, 8, 15, 16, and 23 on a roulette spin once.

I played these numbers like 10 times. Nothing. A couple times, 15/16 came up, but that's it.
