In the book, I believe the flash forward effect was caused by a neutrino pulse, coinciding with the activation of the Large Hadron Collider. VERY scifi premise. I don't think the show is going to be about a scientific accident, though.

Didnt they turn that thing on last year? nothing happened.

Washington was in a state of chaos, I got the impression a lot of the US command structure was in a panicked and completely disorderly state. This particular bureau seemed to be the best equipped to get something started, particularly considering one of its own agents saw himself investigating the case. They already knew they were going to do it.

More book spoilers....

Yes, and in the book, they turn it on again, trying to duplicate the flash forward effect. But it was the random neutrino pulse added to it that caused the FFs, and they couldn't duplicate it experimentally.

Default flashforward is awesome!

i agree w/ everyone who say it felt too rushed; it should've certainly been made into a two hour pilot. However, I also LOVE the concept of this show! It's describing a massive global conspiracy! I agree that suspect 0 is probably our beloved charlie, and we'll find out why him and i'm assuming others were immune to the blackout! I can't wait to see what happens next week! The electricians ff certainly seemed to be the most interesting!

im loving flashforward...i dont know why there is so much hate.
it has only been one episode.
Yes, Lost's Pilot was ammazing, but it takes more than one episode to make a show.

i cant wait to find out more next thursday!!

I dont see much hate for FF. Im seeing critiques. And all the critiques are valid for the most part. But I dont remember seeing any posts saying they werent watching the next episode.. Dont be so defensive

I saw some similarities, however broad. Opening scene - guy wakes up and comes to his senses (on his side rather than back) only to be surrounded by chaos. Jarring images - guy on fire - driver in convertible squished ...

I saved it on DVR and will watch it again - I didn't catch the Oceanic advert ....

Not cool, dude (or dudette). I would've classified that response as a spoiler, since you basically gave a huge clue as to what was in the spoiler box.

Not everyone will know what you're talking about, granted, but a lot will be able to figure it out.

Good thing I'm not really attached to the show at this point. Feels like a product created from all the bankable parts of Lost--ensemble cast, mythology, mystery, time-travel, and "it's-all-heading-to-a-point" storytelling. It's not Lost, it's a gimmick.

Surprised no one mentioned the Oceanic billboard. But I gotta say I really enjoyed that episode. Looking forward to more.

When you disassemble LOST, it's just a series of classic gimmicks itself. Don't take that in a bad way, it's not an insult to LOST. LOST is the best in the biz for 'offbeat content' dramatic shows...
