I'm confused... is Oceanic a REAL airline? The Lost Experience stuff gets kinda ridonculous. I never followed it, but read a couple things. Something about Hanso was said on the Jimmy Kimmel show? This all sounds kind of retarded...IMO.

My viewpoint is "innocent until proven guilty." I'm just saying that we shouldn't make assumptions, when there is evidence to prove the July time-frame wrong. We could -- and should -- accept it, but be cautious that it is possibly wrong at the same time. I read in Lostpedia a while back that it took place on or around April 5 as well.

Yes CO, it is real? Don't you watch the news?
LOST is based on a real event that happened in 2004... a plane dissapeared in the south pacific... as a result, Oceanic went bankrupt... it's just now coming back.
Similar to how the people who made the Titanic almost went bankrupt.

Frankly basing a show on such a tragic event is a sad sad thing.
Oceanic should have never let them use their name for the airline company... it's just adding insult to injury.

Amusing

So, sure we have no clue if the clipping was a prop error, or if they used a specific newspaper for a reason, only changing one or 2 stories to suit LOST. I would say its not a stretch to think that we wouldnt call them on using April 5th 2007's newspaper as a premade prop, and only having to change a few things.. makes for an easier prop than starting from scratch... meaning it still may be an "unspecified time in the future".

Still, I'd rather believe its a true easter egg and we caught it, and that Jack really was living his FF in 2007. After all, these are the same people who hid backwards slowed down audio in a brainwashing tape for us to find. Its not impossible to think that the date was no coincidence, but it is interesting if thats the case because the main stories are changed on the front page, which would mean that Jack lives in a world thats slightly different than the world we live in... So I hope its no prop error because that leaves a wide hole of fun out there associated with the notion.

As for this Oceanic airlines thing.. the whole deal is throwing all sorts of canon out the window.. if your one of the folk who believe that what was stated on the original Oceanic website was canon. This is because the statement issued by the president of Oceanic-air which states that "after 25 years oceanic has had to close its doors", or something to that effect.. but Jack challenged that statement with his golden passes anyhow... assuming Jack isnt farther than Dec 31 2007 in the future, but heres the thing.. if the newspaper clipping and its date are prop errors, then the statement issued by Michael Orteig kind of becomes canon again as it goes along and makes sense with this new press release.. its all so odd.

April actually.

Sweet, could this mean a new TLE?

Is there a picture that clearly shows the date of the newspaper? The LP article doesn't have one, unless I'm just blind.

I know that the paper is taken from a real April/July/whatever 2007 newspaper but that doesn't necassarily mean that's the date of the paper in the show.
Could it be possible that they mean April/July 2008?
