I thought we should standardize this, since I see some fan made sites with one tag when I think it deserves another, or with both tags.
This is what I think, based on the definition: When a site is fan-made but PRETENDING to be part of canon (fake websites), it should be clearly marked with the stronger label "NonCanon". Example: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Dharmaindustries.com When a site is a fan-site and building off the storyline in a way that doesn't intrude on canon, and made in such a way that disclaims them from being official, they get the "fanon" tag. From the definition, Fanon "Does not contradict canon". Example: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/The_Dharma_Island Well, that's my thoughts and that's how I've been labeling. Please give me yours. Labelling fake sites as noncanon makes them look like they are part of the Lost mythos but not part of the story line. I would label dharmaindustries.com as fanon for example!

The key to difference is "does not contradict established canon". If I started babbling about the underwater station, the goblet station and the clone hatching station that's non-canon, if I spoke about dharma recruiters (that seems to make sense and would not be farfetched but unconfirmed) that's fanon.
