I have to say, I LOOOVE the title of this episode. Very Creepy and intriguing.
Yeah I know, I'm jumping the gun. Its just with the title being doctor linus, and the recent reports that he's a high school teacher, it seems like this will be an alt.timeline episode.

I think for those of us reading the early spoilers, it's pretty obvious there's some kind of alt./reset/parallel/imaginary universe thing happening, but I seriously doubt it'll all be a big, imaginary waste. If this is about Ben living some kind of normal life, keep in mind that it's LOST, and no matter what, all this fake reality stuff is tied to the ISland and the ultimate endgame.

I trust the writers enough to believe they've got something ingenious planned, and they won't give us half a season (in the LAST season) full of useless filler or events that didn't actually happen unless it's got some awesome twist and it ends up revealing a huge part of what the hell is going on in the big scope of the show.

I can see nice guy Ben the Teacher being played as naive, and unknowing of all that's happened in his "other" life (pun intended), only to reveal iun the end that he's the "real" Ben all along.

If anything, this whole alt. timeline thing is one of the most intriguing things about the show I've seen in its 6 seasons.

Maybe Keamy as the school caretaker murders Alex causing Ben to go mad or something.

Not gonna happen, imho. Too good to be true.

My guess for Adam and Eve: Widmore and Hawking.
My guess for the eventual overall 'hero': Jack.
My guess for who Christian is: still... kinda... Christian.

Well, in various interviews Emerson said he wished to play someone naive and clueless, for a change. I hope you're happy now, Michael

Edit:
Wait...what if there was no Purge, Roger Linus is still alive, and Ben is still...living with his father?? Noooooo!!!! 815 MUST CRASH NOW!!!!

I have a feeling "innocent Ben" will end up strangling a kitten or something before the end of that episode.

I've never been too hot on the Jin centric episodes. Being that they're usually boring and rely on the present instead of the flashback to appear interesting. The only redeeming quality of Jins centric episodes is that Sun balances it out with the wonderfully written love story (sounds gay I know). Dont get me wrong I love Jin as a character and the fact that he didnt die on the freighter made me giggle like a schoolgirl from just how ingenious it was that they put him with Rousseau so we could learn a little more about her.

But if season 6 does decide to take an alt timeline, a Jin episode would be a good one so that we could see Sun either leaving him, or Jin follows through on his promise and run away with her to America when the plane lands in LAX.

However if season 6 doesnt take that route, a Jin centric episode would be pretty boring without Sun, especially if Sundown's title is as obvious as it sounds and that a Jin centric would most definitely take place after 6.6 if he does get one to begin with. But honestly, as far as Jin goes, his backstory is straightforward and there's really no more kinks to work out as far as character development goes so they cant do much with flashbacks. I like Jin and all I just dont see why they would waste an episode slot on a character is basically completely explained. Jin's preferable final scene is being reunited with Sun, however Sun has a bit more story to cover as far as finding her husband and if she keeps getting put off like I know Locke is already doing and has foreshadowed by telling Ben he honestly wasnt interested in Sun's reunion with her husband I see more of a potential conflict with Sun. I hate to say it, and I hope its not true, but I think Sundown will bring that conflict to a head and something will happen for the worst, even the title brings about a negative connotation. But it would make my day to see both of them reunited again.

You're forgetting something, no purge means Ben never becomes incorporated into the others so how would he have obtained Alex in the first place. Rousseau would STILL crash on the island and Ben would never turn evil because he wasn't taken to the temple. However if course correction would go to the extreme as to have Alex end up in his care, I honestly think it would have something to do with Ben never warning Rousseau to run everytime she heard whispers and she ends up dying pretty early on her stay on the island leaving Alex alone. Maybe the Dharma's pick her up, and Ben and his dad who are still alive decide to leave the island and Ben takes her with him and adopts her as his own so she doesn't have to be raised on a dangerous island. I personally think it would be ingenious to have a role reversal type deal where Alex is taken care of by the Others with no positive influence and becomes evil while Ben becomes the nice old schoolteacher. Its entirely possible that Martin Keamy does kill Bens daughter, but why does it have to be Alex? Ben could have settled down with some nice lady and had himself a biological daughter.

What if Ben realizes his true potential as a menace after enduring years upon years of a sexually frustrated marriage because his wife is an extreme conservative and won't put out? Thus pushing him to the edge turning him into a mass serial murderer?

Let's hope so.

Btw, why the bad guys dress so much better than the good guys?
(not to mention the haircut)
