I think my favorite shout out to the DT books so far has been Spoiler Below
our heroes waking up in the desert after turning the wheel. I can't help but think the series will end with someone breaking the FDW as a hard island reset and wake up in 2004 in the desert, disoriented and thirsty.

These books are easily tied with Stranger in a Strange Land as my favorites stories of all time.

Yeah, I totally agree w/ you. Mordred is a bitch. He barely interested me at all. I think Walter should have had a bigger role to play in the last book.

These books are awesome. i just finished the 3rd one recently. And I must say the third one is what really got me into these books. The first 2 we're good, but i loved the 3rd one. Tehjimmy told me that they get better as they go along. and he was right.

I just read The Gunslinger... I guess it was... alright... it just seemed kind of detached and incoherant. Like, not much really happens in the course of the book. It seemed the most important stuff came in flashbacks. Drawing of the Three, I'll start when I get some other stuff out of the way.

My guess for Adam and Eve: Widmore and Hawking.
My guess for the eventual overall 'hero': Jack.
My guess for who Christian is: still... kinda... Christian.

Yeah Gunslinger was sorta confusing to read. But it gets easier. The beginning of book 2 has a summery of what happened in the previous book. It makes more sense. Book 2 makes more sense overall

All of the ones I have found online are too vague, I don't really get a good 'picture' of the series. And I don't really want to dig too much deeper for fear of being spoiled!
The thing is, it's hard not to be vague talking about the Dark Tower, because firstly, you don't wanna give anything away, and secondly, the story is vague in and of itself.

The first four books (called the official quadrilogy by some - no actually I made that up) are the better part of the series and some may even compare them to the original Star Wars trilogy in terms of the quality. The final three are like the Star Wars prequels, they were created years later than the others and something went seriously, seriously wrong. In short, they are a bit sucky.

SK basically had a existential crisis it seems after his accident, which really really changes the course of the last 3 books - it is clear that they wouldn't have been written this way unless that had happened (you'll understand when you get there). Really weird and unexplainable things happen (more-so than the first books) and there are so many anti-climaxes it's almost like he wants you to hate him...

The first four are fun - and I have to admit the series got me into reading The Stand and 'Salem's Lot, both fantastic reads.

The entire series is quite good. There are some slow parts with flashbacks but they are all very important to the essence of the main story (sound familiar?) The character development could be easily King's best ever. A lot of constant readers were very upset with the ending of the series and there was a major uproar. I personally loved the ending- it was kind of a "ha ha" on the reader but in a nice way. I can see the Lost series ending in a similar fashion. God I hope not but who knows...

Finally finished! It's a good feeling and to be honest I'm pretty upset it's over.

For those of you still on the path to the Dark Tower, I will meet you in the clearing.

Spoiler Below
Clearing:

Ok, regarding the ending. If Darlton ends Lost the same way Dark Tower ended, I will shoot someone's face with my widowmaker.

I actually liked the ending sort of, but it wouldn't work as well with Lost. I hardly watch Lost for the intriguing plot elements anymore, it's currently all about the characters. And as fans, I think we all need and deserve resolutions to their stories. Now we saw some of this in Central Park with Suze and ed and Jake, but Roland's reset will bring them right back in from another universe.

Is it weird that the ending with Suze and crew reminded me of the ending from Jumanji?

Overall, I had a great time reading this series and it will go down as one of my favorites.

I started Drawing of the Three recently... I actually like it so far, but I think it's about to take a turn on me. The first bit is about Eddie Dean and how Roland can 'access' him, save him from the smuggling rap. Well that part just wrapped up with the shootout... and I haven't gone into the next part yet. I'm predicting it won't be similar stuff ('using' other peoples bodies).
