I've been looking at the logos and I think the Sri Lanka logo is in essence a reference to the "mandelbrot".

A fractal, a repetitive design to nature.

Now I'm trying to get my brain to understand how this could be all related to the "Lost" experiance. The flashbacks, the remote viewing, the time travel possibility. How bout some theories...

Yes, it does look like the Mandelbrot set.
A fractal image has structures that repeat in different scales.
If you zoom into a small region you'll see structures in the micro-world that you're going to see on the macro-world as well.
This theme can also be seen on the Taoist philosophy, were the Yn/Yang diagram represents both the microcosm (man for example) as the macrocosm (the universe). In this philosophy/religion, you can expect to see the same structures in bothe man and the universe.
It's a very interesting find you did. Are we seeing in Lost structures in small scale that appear as well in greater scales?
If you pay attention on the series, I believe you're going to see exactly that! ;)
Great work!

Howdy all, this is my first post here. Nice catch. The logo does indeed resemble the Mandelbrot set. However, the mandelbrot was first drawn in the late 1970's...'78 I think. The Dharma logo would have already been around for a few years by then and the Dharma founders would not have known about the mandelbrot when Dharma was founded.

Maybe it was just an oversight on the producers behalf.

This belongs in the Lost Experience forum.

Well this is a good idea.

I disagree though.

I am of the persuasion that this symbol represents the sun (big black blob), the moon (top right blob), earth (bigger white blob) and the island (small black blob in big white blob).

One of the old writers of the show posted in his blog that this symbol is supposed to represent the hydrogen atom. I think thats a foiler because the guy dosn't work for the show anymore, and because if it were a hydrogen atom, it would only have 2 circles representing the proton and electron, unless it was an isotope (but what would be the reason for that?).

There has been much speculation that the larger circle is a view of our universe, and the black is a black hole, the white little circle is its exit point, a "white hole". Also I have heard a theory that the black spot is the space the white spot use to occupy in the universe, but has been moved outside the universe.

Javier Grillo-Marxuach's blog after the Experience ended notes that the logo is supposed to represent a hydrogen atom, in reference to "The Watchmen"
Javier wrote a lot of Lost episodes, and also the LE, so I think his account is most likely true.

Mac ad is quite right - I found that reference on his blog a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea how a hydrogen atom is a nod to The Watchmen, but I've ordered the series anyway out of general interest so I'll check it out.

Javi is a main TPTB man though, so I'd take his word for it. Likewise to the Sri Lanka logo, he revealed the Psychology Test Video logo was of Alvar Hanso.
