I have a theory which works. Hear me out ok?

Say The Vik institute have been running The Valenzetti Equation over and over again, altering variables in order to find out how to alter its outcome; maybe they came up with the figure of 30%: that this percentage of mankind needs to die in order for mankind to survive as a whole.

Now Mittelwerk is testing a virus (as discussed in the Sri Lanka Video) which should kill 30% of these villages, "if more or less people succumb, we have failed". If more or less than 30% die, the eqation will not alter.
If he succeeds, the virus will be released globally.

What do you think?

hamm.. sound good man..! Didn't think about this at all... And maybe the answer is already there... And the Apollo bars are the VIRUES and that's way they are released!

Oh yeah I thought that'd be a good twist. I mean they get everyone to get apollo bars on whereisalvar.com, and it turns out to have a virus in.

Sounds like the Chinese emperor who was told by an oracle that "ten thousand" would die in the construction of the Great Wall, so he immediately had executed a man with a name that sounded like the Chinese word for "ten thousand and had his body sealed up in the wall.

Or the joke about a family who reads about all accidents happening within five miles of home, so they move ten miles away.

lol

But you can't reject this idea completely.. I think this might just be it

But then again (and I'm sick of saying that) this is LOST… Kind of

Nice theory with the apollo bars... I have an idea, Rachel Blake was captured at the end of that video and obviously got free in order to share it.

Now she's been encouraging us to go get the apollo bars. Perhaps she's in on it or she's been made to use her influence to get as many people to get the bars.

Hoping we'd work it out... I dunno theres something here I think, any more ideas?s

Also (UNRELATED) dunno where to put this but has any1 seen the connection of a 'danish dj' on the hotline and 'dj dan'... something there maybe. DJ Danish :)

What I don't get is this, wouldn't you want to test the virus in the middle east and/or northern Africa and not an island off of India (that is where Sri Lanka is right?). I mean you'd want to target origin point DNA so you can test against a diverse genetic mix but on a smaller scale. So since genetically all humans pretty much originate from that area it'd be a better choice to pick.

Though I imagine they picked an island for isolation purposes - assuming birds can't carry it.

Yeah I assumed that they picket Sri Lanka because it's remote and relatively isolated.

Plus, couldn't this virus be "The Sickness" which infected Rousseau's team? (lol, may be a little OTT but I'm trying to make connections here)

I doubt it's the same as a "the sickness" as the sickness was already on the island pre-2004 (if it even really exists), but they're now in 2006. Now, it could be a modified version of an older virus. This could be what Mittlewerk means when he says "We all know that Dharma Intiative XXX failed..." (I never quite get that word in the video, sounds like "Kaylie" to me.

Sri Lanka is about as isolated as Greece.

My theory:

The point of the virus was to target 'bad people' to hopefully change the numbers and save the world. They somehow figured out that 30% of people are 'bad' and decided to kill them. They went to Sri Lanka and tricked the people there into taking the virus under the guise of a vaccine for a disease. The virus somehow was transfered to the island later, possibly for more testing, and some of the survivors have been taking it. The reason they think it isn't doing anything is because the people that have taken it are 'good'. It is also the reason why they gave Claire's baby the virus/vaccine, or at least a version of it, as they can use it to prevent people from becoming bad. The others are doing testing on children because they are not inherently evil and trying to figure out what factors in to being good and evil, and how to create an effective virus and/or vaccine.

I think it's absolutely the same sickness. I just kinda took that as implied the whole time...but maybe I'm crazy?

The virus can't be transferred from Sri Lanka to the Island. Well I mean it could, but the "sickness" existed well before the 2006 Sri Lanka test. Perhaps as much as 18 years prior.

The Sri Lanka experiment definitely isn't the first:

"It has come to our attention that a new strain of
meningococcal disease has been reported in the costal
villages of the United Republic of Tanzania. This strain
breached the simian/homo sapien barrier.

Considering the alarming nature of this outbreak and
the mounting death toll it is imperative that The Hanso
Foundation immediately open the doors of their
Experimental Station for inspection and, should a link be
found between their work and this disease, cease and
desist their activities immediately."

This is from a letter dated 19th September 2005, however it is unlikely to be strongly connected.

The 2006 virus is meant to hit "exact genetic targets" and kill 30%. The 2005 virus spread uncontrollably, so wouldn't have been used to fulfil a figure to affect the outcome of The Valenzeti Equation.
