Character appearances

I'm loving Lostpedia and I think it's really great in detail and has brilliant articles, but. There's a problem with the character articles. NO LIST OF THEIR APPEARANCES. That needs to be! That's exactly the kind of thing I love! I don't think anything would be as awesome as getting a character appearance chart sort of thing to every character article like they do in 24 Wikia. An example (Stephen Saunders' article):

I think that would be just awesome. I'd volunteer to do it. :) I know that a problem would be that there's some pretty long episode titles in Lost ("All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues" would come to mind :p), but they could be shrugged off as "Episode 1", "Episode 2", "Episode 14", etc.

Could this be done? :)

I like this idea. It is something I've had a need for/could have used in the past too. And something I'm sure I'd use in the future. I'd like a list by season with just the episode numbers hyperlinked to the episode page for that number. Something like this:

(On the specific character's page)
Season 1

I would suggest you bring it up over in the LP IRC chat. The mods of the wiki are quite friendly and helpful. I'm sure they could give you a better answer than I can. ;)

But under the character's picture there is a place that says: Flashbacks
and it will list what episodes that were centered around that person.

Or do you mean that there should be a list that shows every episode that person has been in,
even if they were not the main character?

I like the flashback links and the links for first appeared/last appeared, but I would like to know each episode they were in, even if they weren't the centric character. I know...I'm just a geek like that. :p

Yes! I'm talking about EVERY SINGLE EPISODE APPEARANCE for both regulars and guest stars. And you know what? It can be done. I've made a chart that has it all for the on-island characters. The flashback characters have so few episode appearances that I can remember each and every one of them.

This would not even be a challenge for me. Why? I've already. :o I know, I'm a geek, but that's okay. I'd really love to do this.

I checked out the IRC channel, but I don't know who to talk to or what to say. :D

I don't think a single chart is doable on one article, because it would make the wiki page too long, which brings up problems with editing.

I guess I'm not really understanding the point in this megachart, though? Will you make it for more than 250 fb characters (and about 60 others) and continue to update it every week?

All the flashback characters have all their appearances already, check for instance Christian's page, in his infobox, it lists every episode:

We also have a portal for all the flashback characters which lists all their episodes on one page:

The main characters don't have *every* episode, but most appear in just about every episode, so I don't know if there's much use to listing all 50+ episodes for all of them.

I agree with Pandora, don't think there is a need for a chart for all the FB characters, we already have the portal page for them and each FB character has their own article which lists their appearances. So i don't think the FB characters need to have a chart done. The main characters, is it really needed? They appear in almost every episode.

The only characters who aren't really listed are background survivors/redshirts, but it would nearly impossible to pick them out in each and every episode.

And the other would be the Others, which is I guess the only group that really doesn't have their appearances listed anywhere. That wouldn't be too large a task, and I wouldn't mind taking it on if needed.

Well, with that portal, there's no need to do anything like that for the flashback characters. While I do think it'd be a nice addition for the on-island characters, I know it's not necessary. But it's not a big deal to do it for the on-island characters; there's only like 50 of them and they definitely don't appear in every episode, especially not the guest stars of course.

And how can you say that the main characters appear in almost every episode? That's not even half-true. They all miss episodes and they've all been in different amounts of episode. Every single regular character has missed an episode this year and the on-island guest stars don't appear in every episode.

Hey, guys guess what. After quite a bit of researching and trying to find a way to cut over 40kB of the article size I did it. Check out Character Appearances for the complete list of every character who has appeared in more than 1 episode on Lost and who has appeared on the island. If you have any comments feel free to post them and I will gladly take them into consideration.
