Why a radio transmission tower that was put on the island that was set up to broadcast "...in a frequency and encryption known only to us..." was able to be picked up and understood by Sam Toomey (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Sam_Toomey)? Yes he was at a military post, but the message was encrypted. He therefore would have only heard an encrypted signal through the static, not the numbers themselves.
Why the numbers are on all the food?
Why the numbers are on the medicine?
Why the numbers are etched into the concrete outside the Swan?
Why the numbers are the code required to enter into the computer?
Why the timer is the sum total of the numbers? Presumably the Valenzetti equation is not straight addition.
So really, the video only told us what DHARMA means, at the beginning of the summer everyone pretty much knew the numbers were part of the equation. We actually spent the summer learning very little else that we didn't already know.
