Paul from Birmingham.
Got to be SysOp here because of really hard work making it look sexier back in January 06. Most of the work on the front page, original design, altering Z0n3's v2 design into English.

I look after the Show Guides on the front page, occasionally some news. On top of the normal every day SysOp work.

IT Manager at a school. Fun job really. Good do worse! :)

I'm a Brit, too, living in northern Scotland, and delighted to have so many other Brits here, and to have a 'safe' forum to chat during our 4-day hiatus every week :-)

You're all so young! I went to school before GCSEs and gap years and school IT managers (almost before computers!). I'm lucky enough to share my Lost enthusiasm with my daughter, so we sit up after every episode analysing and theorising. And every time we pass in the hall, or bump into each other in the kitchen, one of us will say: "And another thing - when Ben said..." and off we go again.

off topic: Speedcubing is doing rubik's cube like puzzles as fast as possible, competing, sharing tips that sort off thing, its really fun although there are probably less than 10,000 of us in the world. I went to a comp once and it was probably the best experiance of my life (seriously)

on topic (sort of) wow i didnt realise how many brits there were here, i knew this section would burst into life from wednesday ass all of us brits came over here.

Well, I'm on a couple of UK-only forums as well as Lostpedia, and I have to say that Lostpedia has a much higher standard of discussion than I've found anywhere else. There are some really deep theories floating around here. So I have a lot of respect for the posters here (mostly American, but I don't really notice).

But it is nice to have a UK forum here, where it's safe to hang out until Sunday (only 2 days 6 hours 57 minutes 39 seconds and counting...).

Hi Everyone! My name's Sally, I live near Bournemouth on the South coast, I'm 27 and am totally hooked on lost - have been since episode 1 -I don't really post much, I enjoy reading what everyone else has to say too much.

When I'm not watching Lost, talking about Lost or lurking around these forums I can mostly be found playing WoW, flying my little Imp (Kite), walking my doggo or watching repeats of SG1 (second only to Lost!). :p

02-20-2007, 04:36 PM
And no, my name's not Ethan!

I'm Uberfan, 33, male from Eastbourne.

I am OBSESSED with Lost, but also Lost's biggest critic as it frequently winds me up. EP 8 - worst episode ever? Maybe. Perhaps its because S3 started SO well (the first 5 mins of S3 ep 1 were the best I've ever seen on TV) that I've got too high expectations.

Let me know, UK crew!

By the way, someone send me a private message please as I've never received one!

I too have high expectations too, but... worst episode ever? What are you nuts?

I didn't think season three started that well, aside from seeing Otherville the first bit of A Tale Of Two Cities wasnt anything amazing. Kate's episode was a massive let down, so far only Desmond and Eko's episodes have been best ever worthy, with Locke's and Sawyer's being good, the other two were very meh.

So take that :).

Uberfan
02-21-2007, 12:03 AM
Adam - I'm not nuts dear boy, here is my non-nutiness rationale:

1) The Tale of two cities opening basically re-told S1-2 in five minutes (not a mean feat in anyone's book!)

2) Yes I agree with you that the rest up to S6 was a bit naff

3) HOWEVER, EP7 (Not in Portland) really rang my bell because it then retold eps 1-6. Its all about perspective you see dear boy? Done well, Lost can turn their (and your) world upside down amazingly. Ep 8 pretended to do this, but was actually a cruel trick. It was all in Des' head and we are no further forward.

So Boo to that, but you would still need a court order to keep me away frm my skybox on a sunday night!

1) The Tale of two cities opening basically re-told S1-2 in five minutes (not a mean feat in anyone's book!)

That is a very good point.

3) Done well, Lost can turn their (and your) world upside down amazingly. Ep 8 [I]pretended[I] to do this, but was actually a cruel trick. It was all in Des' head and we are no further forward.

Indeed, Lost can turn my world upside down with an amazing episode, which is what Flash Before Your Eyes did, not because I thought Desmond was going back in time (which I didnt) but because as a Lost episode it was, well... amazing.

And also, people keep mentioning that the producers are probably laughing at everyone now and that it was a swerve and all this jazz, alot of people were certain Desmond went back in time were they? I dont go into the main forum that often so wouldnt know what the majority thinks but most people, if my memory serves me correctly, in this section thought it was in Desmonds head, his own personal flashback if you will, did they not? Surely the fact that he said "My life flashed before my eyes..." was a clue that it was in his head in a non-crazy way?

Hopefully that made sense.

Uberfan
02-21-2007, 01:25 PM
Yes I know what you mean Curby, its all about perspective. I just hate it when we get "cheated" in lost. Anyone who yawned at Sawyer chasing a pig or Hurley chasng Dave will know what I mean.

Like a forgiving wife, I can put up with being cheated (on) a couple of times, but not at such a crucial stage in the series. I HATED the "mini series" idea I have never heard of such a stupid idea (I wonder why?). First ep back (Not in Portland) did deliver in spades (Juliet, Room 23 etc) and I really did feel it was the time to keep the momentum up, not lose it completely.

Time will prove us right - this ep was all in his head and to me thats simply not good enough for a whole show.

Yeah, what was the point of the mini series? Not to burn us out? It did the opposite, I probably would have enjoyed Not In Portland alot more if it was on the week after I Do.

Hello, thought I would pop in and say hi, I have only just discovered the forum.

A few details, my name is Cate, not only did I sit my GCSEs a while ago, I taught them for a few years too. Ex English Teacher here - now a GCSE English marker, single mum of two, and avid Lost watcher. I am trying to wait for Sundays...having just switched to dreaded Sky, but sometimes I fall victim to the lure of the US d/load.

Hope to get to know you all better.

Hey, Im Kelly, I'm at school the year before I take my GCSEs. I love LOST and always try to get my friends and family hooked on it so I can talk to them about it. Got my mum and friend Matty so far lol! I don't really post much but I like reading what everybody else has to say.

Family Guy - meh! I think Eric Cartman said it best;

"Don't you ever, EVER compare me to Family Guy, you hear me Kyle? Compare me to Family Guy again and so help me, I will kill you where you stand! Do you have any idea what it's like? Everywhere I go: "Hey Cartman you must like Family Guy, right?" "Hey, your sense of humor reminds me of Family Guy, Cartman!" I am nothing like Family Guy! When I make jokes they are inherent to a story! Deep situational and emotional jokes based on what is relevant and has a point, not just one random interchangeable joke after another!"

You know how on GT's profile it says his occupation is "Hurley's health advisor"? For quite a while I thought that he actually worked for a place called "Hurley's Health Advisors". :D
