I looked at the "Who's Online" section of Lostpedia, and I saw a few "users" were things like 'Yahoo Slurp! Spider' and 'Google AdSense Spider'. What are these arachnids?

I think they are just programs that crawl the web and add info to those specific search engines. >spider-web<

Oh no, what's this?
A spider web and it's me in the middle,
So I twist and turn,
Here am I in my little bubble

Technically camel spiders aren't actually spiders, they belong in their own, separate class of arachnid. But they are pretty horrific, and that's coming from someone who likes invertebrates a lot more than most people.

This picture is an illusion. The camel spider (and camel spiders in general) are not that big. Look at the size of the sleeve of the First Sergeant holding the camel spider. The guy standing in the background makes you think this creature is as long as a human leg.

As a US Army Sergeant who's had two tours to Iraq, I've seen this picture hundreds of time and laugh evrytime at it. I think the original picture include the soldier's thumb and forefinger holding the camel spider, which really killed the illusion.
