Nice thought, I was thinking Widmore myself, but Ben does make more sense in order to get Kate back to the island.

I just remembered when Jack was hesitating and said: "Kate doesn't even talk to me anymore" Then Ben answered: "Maybe I can help you with that".

alright since we are in the spoiler forum. I was maybe thinking Widemore, since the biological father (what's his name?) seems to have some tie perhaps a blood tie, to Widmore because one of his paintings were in his office.
