It's also pretty unbelievable considering that at this point (we discover in S4) Jack had been with Kate and even got engaged to her, that he never would've updated his emergency contact info. This and the prescription from his father are both pushing it a bit in terms of the flashforward fake-out.

So is Walt really Walt here, or something else posing as him? I'm sort of baffled why Locke can't kill Cooper or Jack but has no problem knifing Naomi.

I think that Locke didn't kill Jack or Cooper because they weren't a threat to the island, but Naomi was; protecting the island is always Locke's primary motivation (in his mind, at least), right or wrong. Also, arguably, Locke didn't know Naomi, whereas he had relationships with JAck and Cooper.

Sure, easier to knife a stranger. Could also be that he thinks (or was told) that Jack is important somehow. He always is trying to get Jack to come around to his way of thinking. Maybe it's primarily because of Jack's influence on the rest of the group, but it could be more.

I hadn't thought of that, but it makes great sense--thanks! Locke may figure that Jack is important, especially when you consider the importance of Claire/Aaron and Christian, two of whom (at least) we have seen in Jacob's cabin.

Oh, yeah, I hadn't made the Shepard family/Cabin connection before. Or only fleetingly. Hmm. Can't wait for S6!!!!

In response to an earlier post on here I too upon rewatch seriously questioned jacks references to his father, and the way ppl reacted, considering christian is dead. Maybe there is still something there to be explained, but I think that Jack in this case may have been an unreliable narrator. Either that or people suddenly realized that Jack was seriously delusional and were too shocked to react..

I can't decide between this and The Incident which was better, I had set on The Inicident till I rewatched TTLG now i'ts back to even. One of the best episodes regardless

This episode was just such a huge turning point for the show, moving from flashbacks to flashforwards, introducing a 3rd party conflict, I feel like this ep was almost a series finale to the first part of LOST and what we have seen since is a different show.

I thought it was interesting that ben told jack that he was about to kill all of his people by making the call, because it turned out to be pretty much true, as all but the main people are gonners by the end of S5.

This is very true, loved this episode, but I think I still prefer The Incident.

Not the best finale imo. I'm not sure why but re-watching this one just doesn't have the impact that season one and two finales did for me. Maybe it is the flash forward stuff with Jack. Or maybe it's the bad, fake beard!! It was another repeat of "Exodus" as they march away from camp with Jack leading them again but at least we had the raft scenes and fear of the unknown with "Exodus".

Granted, there were some great cliff hangers like the coffin, what was up with Kate off island, and seeing Penny again with supposedly no connection to this mystery ship off shore. Charlie's death scene, and all the scenes from the Looking Glass station, made the finale enjoyable to watch again. I miss Charlie's character but I thought TPTB did a nice, slow lead into the idea that he would die finally and hopefully for a good cause in the end.

I understand TPTB were trying to show us that the looking glass phrase also refers to what happened once they left the island. Things are not so great for Jack as we see he is really messed up. This all goes back to John and proves that he is right that they weren't suppose to leave the island. Jack just isn't my favorite character, so watching him stumble around scene after scene as a drugged up doctor got to be too much for me. In fact, another comparison to "Exodus" was the fact that Jack screams ..."We have to go back" just like Michael screaming..."Walt!!" I'm definitely not a fan of either of those scenes!

Another favorite part was the beach scene with Hurley saving the day in the VW bus!! It was unexpected and had a great surprise for the viewers. It also showed how Hurley could make a difference in the lives of the losties other than being the constant cheerleader.

Ben is up to his con games again. He HAS to solve these problems quickly and just about loses Mikhail's trust in the process. Speaking of Mikhail, that guy has almost more lives than a cat! I loved his character and glad that TPTB let him survive this long.. Ben pulls one more con on Jack and gets the walkie talkie from him again but that plan backfires too when Hurley comes to the rescue and Jack beats Ben to a bloody pulp. The guy just can't stop the inevitable even when John shows up to ruin the phone call and Charlie has made the call happen.

Best scene: Charlies death scene
Best line: John , "Jack you're not suppose to do this."

I like this episode alot. I have only two 'complaints'...and they really aren't complaints as much as they are nits.

1. Why didn't Charlie run out the door and close it behind him, rather than close it in front of him? I mean, yeah...we know it was for the dramatic effect of his death...but it really never made sense to me. The logical thing under those circumstances is to run out and close the door behind you to keep the water out until they could get the diving suits on.

2. Sarah was really mean to Jack when she came to the hospital. Why come at all if she wasn't even going to give him a ride home? All she had to tell them was that he clearly hadn't updated their records. I mean, it was obvious she didn't even care enough to give an injured man a ride home. Jerk!

Other than that, this was a great episode and series finale.

My favorite part was when Hugo saves the day with the VW van...and Sayid snaps that guy's neck with his legs. Sayid rocks!
