Every time I watch this episode I tell myself I'm not going to cry. And every time I do. It's ridiculous.
It's that moment when Charlie runs after Hurley and hugs him and Hurley's all embarrassed but still says "I love you, too"... not even knowing what's going on (although maybe in the back of his mind kind of knowing)... it just always gets me. I'm not even that much of a Charlie fan. But man... what a tug on the heartstrings. |

I love that Charlie lost his shoe during his descent. I really need to make a thorough list of my personal locomotion motif.

That ring needs to be given to Aaron
I'm glad they brought it back in The Incident. And I hope Claire gets the list too... regardless of Desmond currently being off island and Claire in crazy cabin land. This episode is the best of the "finale set up" ones imo.

Agreed with all. Absolutely great episode. There was a time where I confused the beginning of TTLG with Greatest Hits since GH leads into TTLG so well. The flashbacks were great, especially the crossover with Nadia and the meeting with Claire.

Regarding Charlie's list, two things occured to me while watching. 1) Why are the tenses different (GAVE me a ring, CALLS me a hero)? From someone who writes lyrics so should be attuened to words, I thought this odd. 2) Why so specific about Butlins (which somehow echoes Butties)? The other items were not so specific about place; it wasn't Liam gace me the ring in Helsinki, for example. Just thinking.

Okay, I just wikid the page for the list, and apparently in the Official Lost Magazine someone had sent in a letter asking what happened to it after Desmond dove into the water in Through the Looking Glass. Damon's answer? It got soaked and became unreadable. Ok, so that's realistic but it's still enraging. I swear if that letter isn't given to Claire in season 6 with the ring it will be the lamest thing since Libby's last name being Smith.

I always thought the sensible thing would have been to have left it in the boat and not in Des's pocket. But I guess how was he to know Desmond would get wet? It's still such a bummer that Claire will never get the list.
imbeanie, maybe it's just because he made the list at different times- it's definitely easier to make tense errors when you're writing a few isolated sentences hours apart in time. |

A few questions:
Why does Alpert believe that Jacob gave Ben an order here, when we later find out that Ben never spoke to Jacob? What does he think John might've seen? Is Desmond lying or did he really have a vision of Claire getting on the helicopter with Aaron? Even if there's a chance Claire will leave on helicopter during the final season, it almost certainly won't be with Aaron. Can we assume at this point there's no major significance to Dexter Stratton in the mythology? |
