Well, he was spooked by the cat- it was watching to see if he meant it when he said he was sorry and if he had learned from Nadia to not return evil for evil.

There's a lot in this episode, Mikhail introduces us to the concept of the purge and the underwater beacon (setting up the seeason finale). Locke's rampage of destruction really kicks into full swing.

Is it safe to assume that Mikhail was stationed at the Flame by Ben to keep it looking like communications were lost after the sky turned purple, just like Bonnie and Greta are doing in the Looking Glass?

Oh, Bea is back! Hi! Whoops. Was Mikhail about to shoot himself next?

I just love this episode as it has so many little hints and clues. Mikhail was such a great character and after watching it again I forgot how he wove so many truths in with the lies in his conversation with the losties.

I do believe Mikhail when he says he came to the island in 1993(11 years on the island) and that he was assigned to the Flame immediately. I also think that he was brought to the island after the purge to run the Flame station for Ben. But the real question is...who brought Mikhail to the island?

Best line....by Sayid, "Not every nook and cranny John."
Best scene....when Amira tells her story of the cat to Sayid and Sayid then confesses that he did torture her and remembers.

It took me a second to 'get' the title Enter 77. One way of thinking of it being it's an actual quote from the video that popped up when Lock 'won' in chess. "Sonar is inoperable. Has there been an incursion on this station by the Hostiles? If so, enter 7-7."

Another being the biblical reference of 77 and forgiveness being connected.

So you've got a title that literally is connected with the actions of Lock (though he never finished pressing 7 the second time before Mikhail ambushed him....What happened there? Did Mikhail tell him to press it again anyway or what?) and the flashback storyline for Sayid being forgiven (or more importantly Amira giving forgiveness for those who tortured her).

The 1977 connection never crossed my mind! Awesome lol

just watched this again and whats get me is when Mikhail tells Sayid he wouldnt think twice about killing them. Well considering we now know how important they are to the story line and Jacob who influenced them coming on the island then why would he be allowed to kill them.

Sayid is my favorite LOST character, and so I generally like his centric episodes....and this one is no exception.

I thought the scene with the woman that he tortured...where he finally admitted it, was so moving.

Here they were - the torturer and the tortured, crying over the same incident.

Good stuff, and I'm glad they put it in.

Liked the Flame sequences too. Although Locke can sure be an idiot sometimes...not to mention being really self-centered. HE didn't want to leave the Island, so he blows up everyone else's chance to leave? Jeez, what a jerk.

So glad he is so sure of himself *giant rolleyes*. I mean, this is the guy who only a couple of weeks ago, blew up the hatch because he had no faith in the Island at all.

This was originally one of my favorite episodes of Season 3. I still like it, but it's one of the few episodes where knowing certain things ruined it.

First of all, Sayid doesn't kill Mikhail, and now I know that allows Mikhail to later kill Charlie. That would be ok if that meant Sayid had changed, but it just made it so much worse that he regressed into an assassin for Ben, no less, in Season 4.

But that doesn't take away from how moving the flashback story is... so did Sayid lie when he said he didn't remember her? Or did he tell a lie to spare her feelings at the end because he sensed she needed to confront her torturer? Was it supposed to be ambiguous?

Also, Locke's actions really bothered me. Now, I guess Mikhail manipulated him into blowing up the station. The Island also wanted Locke to blow up the station since it was for communications.

The ping pong game was great, and I liked seeing a more light-hearted aspect of beach life, combined with the suspense in the farmhouse.

It's always disappointing to watch an episode you love and find you like it less.
