This episode is a bit hard to watch but some great scenes with Hurley. This episode makes me yearn for a Libby flashback episode. But I can see why Libby was killed off early... they can't have too many (or any) happy couples on this show.

1) The guy who plays Dave just bugs the hell out of me. I never like him in any role.
2) He obviously pushed the button! We've seen what happens when it doesn't get pushed, and I'm pretty confident nothing crazy went down in this episode...how is this still even a question? 3) Libby is over, people. We won't see her again. We won't hear about her again. |

After all- why shouldn't the hatch folks know how the food is getting to them? Why do they have to be locked up when it's being delivered?

the weirdest part of the food drop to me is that it is dharma food. does that mean dharma still exists?
also....despite knowing we wont see libby again, you cant expect us to not wonder. so wonder i will.

Also, it does seem as though the episode might be the writers' answer to speculation that the whole story is an hallucination in someone's head. Maybe it's them answering back when Libby says she's not imaginary and is insulted that Hurley thinks she is. They are miffed that the fans think the solution would be such a gimmick.

I'm kind of thinking maybe the food drop had something to do with the lag time on the button being pushed (or not pushed). Just like the flight 815 crashed b/c the button got pushed late.

Was Dave a vision representing the Island? Or the Smoke Monster? Or X?
Basically, Dave wanted to get Hurley to commit suicide, which is kind of creepy. Did the Island want Hurley to die? |

Considering what we saw in "The Incident", I'm guessing that Dave was Jacob's Enemy. Jacob seemed genuinely kind to Hurley.

The island is really testing Hurley here. Off-island Dave also seems highly committed to keeping Hurley down. Could be, if X and Jacob do have a free will argument going on, that X as Dave is trying to prove that Hurley can't change, that he's a slave to his addiction. I am most curious, however, as to why he wants Hurley dead. Interesting since X seemed to be menacing Hurley via the cabin later on, and we know Hurley was "chosen" by Jacob for whatever reason. I agree that this episode was probably toying with audience perceptions, but I still wonder if there was more going on here. |

Oh, and what about Ben jumping on the word "God" here?
LOCKE: Did you get caught on purpose? You and your people have been here for God knows how long, and you got caught in a net... GALE: God doesn't know. LOCKE: Excuse me? GALE: God doesn't know how long we've been here, John. He can't see this island any better than the rest of the world can. Red herring, or is this something important? We do know that the island is invisible, to an extent. Is there something significant in terms of the Others being protected or hidden from some higher power? |
