Lost Rewatch - Abandoned
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Abandoned I really didn't realize it before, but I really like Shannon. This episode's flashbacks did her a lot more justice than the ones in Hearts and Minds. She's been trying to prove herself her entire life, but people just don't give her a chance. I think Boone was on the right track trying to help her in this episode, but his mom is such a bitch. It's too bad she didn't get a real chance to redeem herself before being shot, but at least she found Sayid if only for a little while. Mike continues to annoy me. He acts all offended at Sawyer's remark about him not giving a crap about Michael or Walt, but just last episode he told Libby he didn't consider Sawyer a friend, and oh, in the season premiere he was being a complete jerk to him too. Sorry Mike, but I think you can stand one sassy comment from Sawyer.

Nice shocking ending when we find Ana Lucia fired the death shot.
I also like the character connection between Shannon and Jack. Nice shot of Jack exiting the ER as Shannon and her stepmother get the news of Adam Rutherford's death in the car accident. I didn't catch Shannon from Jack's perspective in "Man of Science, Man of Faith" flashback as somebody pointed out in that thread, though. I need to go back & see if I can catch that.

There is still one big unsolved mystery in this episode: The apparition of Walt. Now, throughout 5 seasons, we have seen a bunch of people appear, but most of them were dead.
So the questions are: Who causes these apparitions? Walt, the smoke monster, mr X, the island, or someone else? What is the reason for these apparitions? One could argue that they are responsible for Shannon's death. Was this planned? If yes, then why? I'm looking forward to see your ideas.

so horrible. shannon was a really good character and should not have died this early.... i have always loved shannon on the island, but the first couple flashback eps showed her to not be so great before the crash...this episode really sort of showed why she was that way...
the conversation with boone about making her own money, doesnt he think she can, etc. reminded me of when she says she can catch a fish and has charlie catch one for her...she tells boone she can get her own money, but she ends up turning to men to give her money, shelter, clothing.... every episode i feel like i have a new number 1 most hated character, and boones mother is holding that spot right now...(along with ana lucia). she was a horrible person! "step daughter"....come on...her dad just died... it was so cool to see jack slip by in the background...is shannon really in MOSMOF? i havent noticed, but havent REALLY looked....but character connections are always fun...even in these tragic situations.

I was watching this and wondering if the Walt visions were responsible for Shannon's death as well. Also, I really like Shannon, i wish they would have kept her on instead of Kate. Shannon is so much more believable as a person.
