Lost Rewatch: Discuss Everybody Hates Hugo here.
Wiki link - http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Everybody_Hates_Hugo My question is.. is it coincidence or somehow meaningful that Hurley's boss at the chicken place was also Locke's boss at the box company? Hmm apparently it is the same character (not just the same actor) as they both were named "Randy"..

I think that was just a coincidence. Doesn't Randy end up working for Hurley later? Burn on him.
![]() The dream at the beginning is hilarious. Love Jin. The Arrow makes an appearance. Anyone think we'll see it again? |

One of the better on island/ off island character similarities, is Hugo recieves an abundance of something everyone wants (food/money) an is alienated because of it. Just like his friends, Johnny/ Charlie start to resent him. Thankfully he finds his way by spreading the food to everyone at once.

Things I noticed/liked about this episode:

I nevr quite understood the dissonance between Hurley and Johnny following the final scene of the flashback. I get how Johnny would be initially upset (and watching the understanding of the reason for Hurley's peculiar behavior wash ovr his face was a great little piece of acting by DJ Qualls) and that he would be hurt that Hurley did not tell him but I don't get why that ended their friendship. It's obvious that they were more than just work-at-the-same-place friends and genuinely cared about each other. I'm not passing judgment on Johnny; I'm not sure how I'd react if my best friend kept something like that from me. All I'm saying is that it doesn't quite add up to me.
Just like in the previous episode when Michael meets Ana Lucia, he and we are introduced to Libby. If only she knew . . . This is completely inane but I noticed that when Hurley and Rose are in the pantry and Hurley tells her, "I don't know what to do," he's standing in front of what appears to be the Swan Station's supply of peanut butter (you can see it ovr his left shoulder). Nice little tie-in to the tension between Charlie and him. The peanut butter jar he later gives to Charlie is different, so maybe what I saw in the scene is some other food product but I paused it there and it looks like peanut butter to me. I like to think of S2 as "the season that destroyed all we came to love about Locke in Season 1." The same can be said of Charlie in S2 but I forgot that he starts to get on my nerves so early on, starting with this episode. Granted, Charlie has always bounced between prat and loveable gentleman/comic relief from the pilot episode but, as we know, the writers took his prat-itude to the extreme in this season. Thankfully, they totally redeemed Charlie in S3 long before "Through The Looking Glass." I nevr noticed before that we actually see Sun lose her wedding ring as she's burying the message bottle. You see it on her finger as she's holding the bottle and then, as her hands come back up after finishing burying it, it's no longer on her finger. Of course, who would have evr noticed this if we didn't have ". . . And Found"? Still, it's a moment that the camera didn't necessarily have to show us for us to believe it happened when Sun realises it's gone in the next episode.

My favorite line; Hurley's mom "Everyday is the same thing; you work, you eat chicken" that cracked me up. then after she answers the phone; "Yes it is Jesus! He wants to know what color car you want!" Hurley's mom is hilarious!

Quote:
"But they're not pissed at that person, they're pissed at me." Also, Johnny could have started asking, "Why is it fair that Hurley gets to win the lottery, while I have to work at a stupid pizza joint. I bet Hurley stopped working after that. His friends and family looked at him differently after that (just look at his Dad who returned). Also, it's the whole idea of change. Hurley was comfortable as he was. He liked working at crappy jobs with his friend, and didn't care that he was obese. It's the reason why he goes back to Santa Rosa after he gets off the island. It is comfortable for him there, and he doesn't like change. That's just my take on it anyway. |

probably a stupid observation....but its weird that walt is missing on the milk carton in hurleys dream sequence.....when he doesnt know walt is missing....
"who needs money when youve got good looks" haha this is cute....especially hurleys face after johnny says it. “The last time I heard of concrete being poured over everything in this way was Chernobyl.” - god the hatch is creepy. and sayid is too smart for his own good. libby and bernard!! whoo! rose and bernards reunion is so wonderful!! i cant wait to see it again. ana lucia, i cannot say it enough, is gross. she is a horrible character. the ending of the episode is so cute....perfect for a hurley episode..it reminds me of the beginning of season one endings... claire and charlie and the peanut butter is cute..he did promise after all...even jack and kate have a cute moment...
