Terry gives an amazing performance of these two lines, so great that you can understand Locke's entire character from this alone.
This bit was awesome the first time I saw it. For a few seconds at least. It was like "omg he IS the special one and knows everything about the island and the hatch!... Oh. Right. He was bluffing."

That said it was so great to see it from Locke#s perspective and "Make your Own Kind Of Music" is back yet again. Such a memorable song in such memorable scenes. Then the final shot of Jin running toward Michael and Walt and shouting "Others" as we see them in the distance. Goosebumps then. Still do.
Yeah, I wasn't really looking forward to rewatching this episode. I remembered it as being quite frustrating not moving the plot forward. However, the Hatch scenes were great and there was a lot less "WAAAAAAALT" than I thought.

Still plenty of time left for that though...

we also see the shark with the dharma logo on it. it is nice to watch these episodes in eyepoping high definition
I agree! Well, ok, I felt a lot of sympathy for Michael at first. I really hated his ex all along. Not that I'm a parent, but I think Michael should have fought her legally all along. But that too sets him up on the island, his violent desperation to do anything to get Walt likely out of severe guilt for giving him up. does it justify killing?

also, poor Walt. His mom died. Brian never wanted him. Michael, off-island, wasn't in his life... and then he didn't exactly let him have friends or fun or anything...he went nuts and killed people and then he died. So Walt's an orphan, whom no one wants. and only Locke came to visit him.

I (no high def or anything) never saw the Dharma logo on the shark, just knew from one of the DVD extras.

For a long time, you could believe (and I did) that there were no Others. Hallucinations. crazy Danielle. and Tailies. Ethan as maybe a Tailie. Locke hitting Sayid over the head. Charlie kidnapping Sun. nothing really out there.... except polar bears, the Hurley bird, and the smoke monster...and Dharma
