DESMOND: Are you -- are you him?
LOCKE: Yes. Yes I am. DESMOND: I can't believe it. You're finally here. LOCKE: Well, here I am. Terry gives an amazing performance of these two lines, so great that you can understand Locke's entire character from this alone.

Yeah, that's a loaded question isn't it? You just have to guess that "him" is either there to help or hurt, and quickly respond. It's a crapshoot, 50/50 but John was right. Wasn't this the start of "Waaaaaaaaalllllttt"?

Well, to me it seems that Locke is assuming he must be 'him' due to his belief in his specialness. He's like, "So this is why I needed to open the hatch, I must be this guys messiah or something." At least that's what I get out of it.

I forgot how much I hated Michael. Out of all the characters on the show the only person I hate more than him was that bitch baby-momma of his. She may be the worst character in the history of television.
we also see the shark with the dharma logo on it. it is nice to watch these episodes in eyepoping high definition Last edited by Galactic Nuclei; 07-14-2009 at 03:43 PM.. |

Yes, sorry to disagree, Noman, John basically had to guess what answer would have kept him alive.

Michael was being rather obnoxious to Sawyer in this episode. It was cool of Sawyer to call for Jin. Walt's mother is so manipulative... Brian didn't even want to adopt the kid - she's the one who wanted it. So she was doing it for herself too.
I forgot how much I hated Eko at the beginning. Did he have to be so harsh with the hitting? He could've killed all three of them on the beach. When you watch episodes back-to-back on the DVD, it's annoying when they replay scenes like the one where Jack meets Desmond in the hatch. I know this really bugged me in Season 5 with the continual return to the pier where Sun had a gun on Ben, but I had forgotten that this was already happening in Season 2. It's neat that you see different people's perspective of events, though, I guess. |

I love this episode. I don't know why so many don't. I think the frustration lies with people desperate to find out what happens after "move, and i'll blow his damn head off brother". That said it was so great to see it from Locke#s perspective and "Make your Own Kind Of Music" is back yet again. Such a memorable song in such memorable scenes. Then the final shot of Jin running toward Michael and Walt and shouting "Others" as we see them in the distance. Goosebumps then. Still do.
Those that didn't already know, this was originally supposed to be a Sawyer episode. I posted the info on the Lostpedia page last year and i asked Greg Nations about why it was cut on the Fuselage board but he basically dodged the question and made a joke. However Carlton explained it in an interview with Variety this year, info also on the page. I am DESPERATE to see that Sawyer flashback. Can you imagine, half an unseen episode of Lost is out there from season 2 (also my favorite season?). No matter how bad it is i would even count to 4815162342 to watch that.

So they filmed flashbacks and didn't include them as deleted scenes?
This episode would've easily fit as a Sawyer episode too... though I did like the different stages of grief that Michael went through before he sort of accepted Walt is gone and he cooperated more with Sawyer. Maybe this is why the following couple of episodes did not include this character development with Michael... they still kept on having him ungraciously say that Sawyer isn't his friend when I thought the two of them came to a pretty good understanding by the end of "Adrift". |
