Exactly what I was thinking, surprised nobody else mentioned it until you did.

But at the same time after being scared he knew he was going to be judged...that Locke guy knows too much.

Also Locke's line "You do believe in destiny, you just don't know it yet" was amazing considering Jack turns into mini-Locke in Season 5

About Locke and the two smoke island "visitations", some people see it a a sign of two influences on Locke, now that we now about Jacob/anti Jacob. Seems likely to me.

One scene I thought looked like a Greek tragedy was the three women in the cave discussing fate, after they all were missing loved ones. A reminder of the three Greek Fates, but with Claire denying that fate exists.

It's almost as if Walt knew that Shannon must die?????

I think people were just pushing Jack back because he was going all Jackface on everybody, and for once people stood up to him.

The stewardess' line at the jetway to Hurley: "This is your lucky day." Is hysterical. Hurley's day was anything but.

And Doh, the double entendre of Exodus just hit me. Not only about Michael and his raft, but the flashbacks with all the Losties activities before they made their exodus from normal life.

Watching Hurley struggle to get to the plane was funny, but it also seemed like he was being given lots of chances not to go, starting right with his alarm not going off. Free will? Fate? Just Lost?

Great, great finale. Much of what I noticed the second time around has already been mentioned. I really enjoyed the scene between anna lucia and jack the second time with the knowledge we have about their backstories. I know a lot of folks didn't like anna lucia, but I actually enjoyed her time on the show. I wonder if juliet would have had such a large role on the show if anna lucia wasn't killed off. It seemed like they were setting her up to be the "other woman" in the jack , sawyer, and kate quadrangle.

The scene where Sawyer tells Jack about his encounter with Christian is probably one of my top 5 Lost moments. What a great way for Jack to learn about his father's true feelings and for us to gain a lot of respect for Sawyer.

I also agree that the scene between Walt and Shannon was great.

The season 1 rewatch was great. I really enjoyed going back and observing all the references made that are so relevant knowing what we do now.

John Locke was downright intriguing to watch, and Terry O'Quinn is an amazing actor. I keep going back to the backgammon game he played with Walt and believe that is a major key to the show. Can't wait for the Season 6 flashback to Locke's first encounter with smokey.

And I'm also curious as to what the heck Jack was doing after he, kate, and charlie were seperated by smokey the first time. He had the weirdest look on his face, although it may be nothing.

Let me stop rambling.

My top 5 moments:

-WALT: Vincent took care of me when my mom died -- and nobody would talk to me. They pretended like nothing happened. So I had to talk to Vincent. He's a good listener. You could talk to him about Boone if you want.
Malcom totally owns this moment, some really impressive acting from him, plus just a beautiful moment between two characters you wouldn't guess would share a scene.

-SUN: [subtitled, handing Jin some papers] This is for you.
JIN: [reading the papers] Star. . . star board.
SUN: Starboard. [Subtitled]: It's a list of simple English words spelled out phonetically... I thought this would help you so I made it for you.
JIN: [subtitled] I'm sorry.
SUN: [subtitled] I am too. You don't have to go.
JIN: [subtitled] No, don't you understand, Sun. I'm in this place because I'm being punished. I made you suffer. You don't deserve any of this.
SUN: Jin...
JIN: [subtitled] I have to go because I'm going to save you. Stay with Jack. He'll keep you safe.
SUN: [subtitled] Who will keep you safe?
[They hug and cry.]
SUN: [subtitled] I love you.
JIN: [subtitled] I'm so sorry.
SUN: [subtitled] It's okay.
[They kiss.]
Really made me come around to Jin, finaly see what's been going on inside his head.

-SAWYER: [calling after Jack as he walks away] Jack. -- About a week before we all got on the plane, I got to talking to this man in a bar in Sydney. He was American, too. A doctor. I've been on some benders in my time, but this guy -- he was going for an all time record. So, it turns out this guy has a son. His son's a doctor, too. They had some kind of big time falling out. The guy knew it was his fault, even though his son was back in the States thinking the same damn thing. See, kids are like dogs, you knock them around enough they'll think they did something to deserve it. Anyway, there's a pay phone in this bar. And this guy, Christian, tells me he wishes he had the stones to pick up the phone, call his kid, tell him he's sorry, that he's a better doctor than he'll ever be -- he's proud, and he loves him. I had to take off, but -- something tells me he never got around to making that call. Small world, huh?
Great payoff after Outlaws, one of Josh's best deliveries.

-LOCKE: That's why you and I don't see eye-to-eye sometimes, Jack -- because you're a man of science.
JACK: Yeah, and what does that make you?
LOCKE: Me, well, I'm a man of faith. Do you really think all this is an accident -- that we, a group of strangers survived, many of us with just superficial injuries? Do you think we crashed on this place by coincidence -- especially, this place? We were brought here for a purpose, for a reason, all of us. Each one of us was brought here for a reason.
JACK: Brought here? And who brought us here, John?
LOCKE: The Island. The Island brought us here. This is no ordinary place, you've seen that, I know you have. But the Island chose you, too, Jack. It's destiny.
One of the greatest convos ever. So defining of these two characters relationship.

-The boarding scene. Brings the entire season around full circle. Beautiful score from Giachinno as well.
QFT
you seriously took the words out of my mouth that i was going to post on here
and for all those reasons
this is my favorite episode

edit: an honorable mention for "and that is why i need 5 guns"

A great finale on its own but, in comparison to the other finales, this one definitely ranks lowest for me. It's still a great episode but the 'Lost' mythology had only begun to build at this point and certainly the introduction of the DI in S2 exploded it into a whole other realm of interconnectivity and fodder for the true fans. The "a-ha!" moments grow exponentially with each season's finale.

Also, has anyone else noticed that boats play a major factor in evry season finale thus far? Let's review:

Season 1: Michael's raft, The Black Rock and The Other's tugboat
Season 2: The Elizabeth and The Other's tugboat
Season 3: The Other's outrigger and The Kahana (not shown, through inference)
Season 4: The Kahana, The Zodiac Raft, The Searcher (Penny's boat) and the O6 life raft
Season 5: The Black Rock, Galaga (okay, not a boat but still a water vessel), the raft that Sawyer, Kate and Juliet use to get back to the island from Galaga

Not sure what to make of all of that but it is quite interesting. Speaking of boats:

I mean, at this point we already know Danielle has been on the island for 16 years, and we see the Black Rock-- with skeletons inside. So we know the Losties are not the first people to become stranded on the island... if it was that easy to leave, Danielle and the Black Rock skeletons would surely have done so a long time ago, no?
MM0602, I think you're looking at this the wrong way and, through what you've written, you've answered your own question. Beccabee gives a good explanation as to why Danielle and the Black Rock inhabitants couldn't save themselves. With the knowledge that Danielle has been on the island for 16 years and what we learn in the S1 finale about the Black Rock, it's obvious that rescue isn't going to come to the island, that the Losties have to go find it themselves.

I thought the same thing while watching this finale again. The guy who attacks Michael while the other Other is taking Walt looks exactly like Richard. I know that Nestor Carbonell wasn't cast until Season 3 but with the way this guy is covered in shadow in 'Exodus,' they could easily flashback to show it is Richard on the tugboat. Yes, he's a "sort of advisor" as Ben described him so his involvement in such a dangerous mission would seem out of character but we have seen Richard involved in several missions: he's obviously the liaison between the DI and the Others/Hostiles as we saw in 'LaFleur' and he helps Jack and Co. with Jughead in 'The Incident.' If the writers do decide to finally give Walt's story its due diligence (and I so hope they do), I could easily see Richard playing a role in kidnapping Walt from the raft and testing him during the events of S2. It wouldn't be the first time they've interjected newly introduced characters into what we thought we already knew about a scene or sequence of events (Arzt, Nikki and Paulo come to mind).

Speaking of Arzt, I do believe 'Exodus' is the first time we see a previously killed-off character back on the show. And not just one, we get three: Boone, Edward Mars and Arzt. I forgot there were so many in one episode. That started what we've come to know and love about 'Lost': that, despite the title of a certain episode, dead is not dead and gone on this show. This is exactly why I know that Jacob will play a major role in S6, either in flashbacks prior to his encounter with Mr. X in 2007 if he is in fact dead, or both in flashbacks and the present time of S6 if he is somehow still alive.

Finally, the interactions between all involved in the trip to the Black Rock after they pick up the dynamite annoys me. Locke specifically tells the rest that they should stagger their formation and Jack tells Locke and Kate that if anything happens, they should carefully drop their packs and run. Yet, in the vry next scene we see Locke and Hurley have a conversation about what they think is inside the Hatch while standing less than 2 feet apart from each other. Then, when the Smoke Monster does attack, the careful viewer will notice that Jack carefully takes off his pack and runs after Locke while Kate just runs, dynamite-filled pack still on her back. I can understand her being panicked at first but at some point it had to occur to her that she was running with dynamite on her back (or so she thought).

i loved these episodes....the only ones i have been unable to control my crying while doing the rewatch so far (especially part 1)...

locke asking jack if he ever played operation?? haha hes done a bit more than played the game.....

i have to agree with a couple things people have said so far....locke looked scared out of his mind while being chased and dragged by smokey...but he also acted so calm about it afterwards...
and i really did think that the guy on the boat looked like richard, but i dont think it WAS richard....

all the character interactions in this were amazing....my favourite scene was probably sawyer telling jack about christian.
seeing ana lucia, blowing up the hatch, everyones flashbacks, discussing fate/destiny over and over again....
hilarious how arzt mentions there are other people on the island too....haha like what are those people doing all this time?

i find it hard to believe that sayid didnt know charlie was a heroin addict...he is pretty perceptive and generally in the know....

im so excited to go onto season 2!!!
