Funny. Michael and Sun clearly had some connection, as we know they almost kissed at one time. Now the connection has become clearer, and, well, a lot more irritating as Sun has become the new Michael: "Where's my son-- I mean, my husband?"

I liked the climatic scene where everyone finds out Sun spoke English. I didn't realize I liked this episode even more than "House of the Rising Sun".
I didn't buy into the Sayid/Shannon romance, and I think it was because it was built up in a subplot in this episode and not enough time was devoted to it so it was hard to buy. |

Great episode.. caught it the other night. How can ANYONE say Jin is irrelevant in this show. He has been the best developed character by far... Better than sawyer, a million times better than Charlie etc..

Two quick things I noticed. First, when Jin is leaving the caves, Sun stops him with (in English) "I was going to leave you. I was going to get away, but you made me believe you still loved me." Wouldn't it have been more effective to tell him in Korean, or was she not ready to give him the whole story yet?
Second, Jin's dad: "You are my son. It does not matter what you've done." I think this sets the tone for so many of the father/son relationships throughout the show. In Outlaws, Christian, even when drinking heavily, isn't saying "Oh, boo hoo...listen to what my son did to me." Instead, he's lamenting the fact that he could pick up the phone and call Jack right now to fix everything. He says he's too weak to do that. |

Quote:
sun says this to jin because she is not ready to tell him. i also think that by speaking in english she is showing that she is strong, and although hes mad at her now, she is still the one with the power to make her own decisions...she chose to learn english, and she chose NOT to leave him.

The scene where michael attacks jin, and we see it from jins perspective with all the garbled speech, has always had a big effect on me.
Also, I hope we see jin's dad in season 6. |

Father issues:
Jin (Jin's ashamed), Sun (he's evil and controlling), Locke (absent, and a scumbag/con-man), Sawyer (murderer), Jack (unsupportive, irresponsible, drunk), Kate (abusive), Claire (absent), Hurley (absent), Ben (abusive), Walt (Brian didn't want him, Michael wasn't there or too strict)...Penny... Michael had problems as a father. There's Aaron who doesn't exactly have one. This leaves Boone and Shannon (didn't give Shannon money, but that's a stretch). Faraday? Sayid, Charlie, Juliet, AnaLucia, Desmond (anyone else?..Eko...) I guess don't. So it's not everybody. But it sure is a lot. |

I never much came around on Jin. Maybe he married Sun so he could work for her father and advance himself (not the other way around). Looking at this, it's hard (and a bit sad) to see them in love by the end of season 5, with Sun leaving her baby to come back to the island for him (as well as plan to kill Ben to avenge him, but I want Ben to die). Jin gained renewed appreciation for her and Sun grew a whole lot tougher. but still...I think they should've split.

Oh and Michael (yet again) rushes angrily and violently to a conclusion (earlier with Locke etc.) with no proof.
