Also, I just thought of this but does anyone think Walt simply willed the raft to burst into flames instead of physically setting fire to it? I don't know if I believe this myself since The Others told Michael that Walt wasn't who they thought he was but the thought just popped into my head.

pretty good ep.
loved the ending... sayid and shannon...ahh! i think they are one of my favourite couples. i really like on-island shannon, and i think it is horrible that she had to die....especially at the hands of one of the most hateful characters on the show. i had to cry when her and sayid kissed in this episode. when did the michael/sun kiss occur? before this? i hope not after..because i feel that this is when michael and jin start becoming friends (BFF haha). this was a cute daddy/son episode too....we dont get to see good daddy/son moments too often....jin and his dad....michael and walt giving props...that was so cute.... i remember waiting for sun and jin to make up after this.....and now im thinking about how amazing the sun and jin reunion will be next season!!!!! ok. not sure why im posting this here....but how do we know michael is dead? was it in a podcast, or some other thing, or just assumed because....well....he blew up...because i just assumed he was somehow alive until a couple months ago when i started living my life by lostpedia...

A few episodes ago, entitled Special I believe it was, I said I felt sorry for Michael and what he had to put up with and may have been feeling the strain. Well I also fall on the feel sorry side for Jin in this episode. You've got a man who has just survived a plane crash, and although (as we know now) nothing happened with Michael and his wife, it seemed that something was up with the pair. On top of all this, he can't speak a word of English (apart from boat, apparently). Like Hurley says early doors "Fine dude, be an outcast" is right, because essentially from day one that is what Jin is. I think the way he was treating Sun was wrong yes, but surely it wasn't Michael's place to step in.
To top all of this off, he then finds out that his wife has for many a year spoke English, a secret that she has kept from him, it'd probably be enough to push anybody over the top, especially with a relationship as strained as Sun/Jin was. Off island, Jin went throuh the mill. Doing anything for his wife, he takes the job for her father and ends up lying about his own dad, which he later apologises to his dad for. Someone said it previous, but I really do like Jin's dad. He seems to have a lot of knowledge, certainly knows what he's talking about and seems to have had a lot of experience and knowledge. Locke has so much hold over this group I think, he waits for just the right moment to step into the big 'Did Jin do it' argument, and kinds of protect Walt in a sense with his excellent "Where not the only people on this island, and we all know it" speech. A very strong episode and one of the episodes of the season I reckon. |

I don't think Michael and Sun ever kissed. I'm sure there was a 'Missing Pieces' on this situation, which showed that they were about to kiss but something stopped them. Can't remember what although it may have been Vincent, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Pretty positive there was a 'Missing Piece' mobisode showing us that nothing happened between these two. |

i just watched it...youre right...i totally remembered it that they kissed...haha wow im so happy they didnt.... they leaned in, and, yes, vincent barged on the scene..... either way...i still wonder when this happened...i think it was possibly before jin found out she could speak english...i think if it was after, sun would have felt too bad to have even considered kissing michael....

Anyone notice how Walt burns the boat and child Ben burns the van? Don't know if it means anything, except that they both wanted to be more connected to the island, Ben by going to the Others and Walt by staying.

For some reason, I was thinking about Ferris Bueller's Day Off earlier today. Having just watched this episode of 'Lost' two days ago, it suddenly occurred to me that the scene with Locke asking Shannon why she cares so much about what Boone thinks about her is reminiscent of the scene at the police station in the movie where Charlie Sheen challenges Jeanie Bueller to let go of her need to concern herself with Ferris's business. Maybe The Temple is just a water tower with 'Save Ferris' written on it?

I really like the Jin/Sun episodes. Sun is my favorite female. I love her character, probably because she has a lot of character. She's real, and down to earth. I respect her for caring about JIn, and the sacrifices she made to protect his feelings. So, yeah...I'm a Sun lover!

Something else I've picked up on aswell after watching this episode, is that honestly how much say over the whole group does Locke have? I mean he's basically tore Shannon and Boone apart, and it's clear Shannon thinks that Locke is a bit of a creep, I mean after all she's not getting the attention she craves off Boone anymore. So surely he'd be the last person she listens to right? Obviously we know now it's wrong, as Locke tells her "What does it matter what Boone says" and "We all start new on this island, Shannon" speeches while making a very cool dinner I must say! Shannon goes back to the beach and confronts Sayid, telling him the exact same words Locke told her only a few hours prior. Off island he was a cripple who couldn't do anything he wanted to do, yet on island the contrast is totally different. Even light/dark difference (see what I did there?!). On island he's a leader of men. Jack is the de-facto leader but Locke almost seems the inspirational leader. If Shannon takes Locke's advice, I think almost anyone on the island will.
