I did too. I believed Kate getting caught in the middle of a robbery was a coincidence.

Just finished rewatching this one, and god I remember why I hate Kate so much.

Hate to say this again but I again noticed similar sounds that lead up to the time flashes in Season 5 in this episodes. I heard it twice, the first time when Sawyer was up on the cliff face throwing the case down onto the rocks below, the second when Kate and Jack were at the marshals grave (the first scene).

No ones commented in the previous episode threads to this but does anyone else hear this?

i havent heard these sounds, but i havent gone back to listen for them either.
i have to say though, i cant imagine the writers had thought so far ahead, especially mid-season one. it may have just been them using a similar sound effect, but for another purpose.
im sure other people will respond to your thoughts, i think people are just sort of drifting from the rewatch....hopefully they will come back full force and all the secrets of lost will reveal themselves!

She loved him? that's supposed to make Jack ok with her lying to him? and that whiny face she has the whole episode just made me think she was acting like a 12-year old who needs a good thrashing for being such a brat. Are we supposed to feel sorry for her? because I don't. I think she's just proven how untrustworthy she is.

one note, though:

Jack continues to question Kate's past, whether he can trust her, why she keeps running, etc. He even says 'What did you do, Kate?' (referring to the marshal escorting her in handcuffs and the mugshot)

thing is, Jack declined when Kate offered to tell him her story. I find it smug and condescending to let someone off the hook as far as your own personal judgement of them, and then to continually poke and prod and bring up the thing for which you have pardoned them. If you're gonna let it go, then you truly have to let it go. otherwise, you look like a douchenozzle.

When a friend of mine first watched this episode, he thought Kate was just foolish. This episode, and her on the run in Australia, got me to like Kate as an intriguing character, tough and independent. not that she isn't incredibly selfish (like pretty much everyone else on the island, out for their own interests)

but yeah, I think that's why Kate said, "you had your chance to know" when Jack asks her again. since he didn't really give her a clean slate after all.

Did anyone wonder when watching this how Rousseau being on the island for 16 years could probably know the lyrics of Finding Nemo?

This song, La Mer was written by Charles Trenet, famous french chansonnier, in 1946. It's a classic in France, everybody knows the song.
It's not from Finding Nemo.

It would be kinda cool at the very end of the show we'll see the O6 boating away from the island with Vincent watching them on the shore, and there's the little toy plane on the beach as if someone tossed it out. Then we see Jacob reach down, pick it up and drop it in his shirt pocket.

Not saying that should happen, but just a nice thing to think about while we wait 'til the snow flies when Season 6 starts up. GAH!!!
better, if Vincent would find it and rip it to shreads with his fangs, then bury it.
