i think we got a lot of info heaped on our plates in this ep!
we meet danielle, we first hear about the others (super important)....and we first meet an other...ethan! i have been waiting for him to pop up... we hear about the black rock, the whispers....and we see everyone playing golf. ![]() i personally didnt care either way for the back story, but i loved what we saw on the island..... i felt like the flashbacks kind of showed us what we already know...sayid is a torturer with a heart... also i kind of liked when they flashed from sayid and nadia right to shannon... probably means nothing...but i kind of like them as a couple.... |

Well, here again, I got the feeling Danielle was a sidetrack introduced into the series to delay things, and therefore not strategically placed. I still think this is true. I would have rather seen a few episodes later where the Losties investigate the Egyptian tunnels they find.
This episode is not the only time that I will suspect that the writers are fearful of investigating in any depth what what is going on in LOST. Almost as if any inspection will shine the light on the whole thing, and it's really a fairly simple premise.

I actually like this episode a lot. Not my fave, but oh, I do so love seeing Mira Furlan again! (Honestly, is it weird that my fave part of Rousseau is her accent? I love the way she has all her L's in the back of her throat...Yes, I know she's Yugoslavian...that just makes her cooler...) It was nice to see Nadia NOT get tragically, freakishly hit by a car and to actually see Sayid shoot himself in the youknowwhere for his love. And the golf course ("What are you doing? Are you playing GOLF? ...Can I play?") was and always will be a genius idea of Hurley's...

I love this episode. The on-island story is incredible.
Too bad this is Sullivan's only episode in the series....

I'm pretty sure that the only reason they put Sullivan in that episode was to draw away attention from Ethan. If Ethan was the only redshirt that got speaking lines in that episode, it might be seen as suspicious.

ah....the two posts above...how smart you are!
i was thinking to myself during this ep....it seems obvious that ethan...who is suddenly just there....will be the one not on the manifest (i cant remember what i thought the first time around).....but you are right about sullivan....also in the moth we quickly saw steve and scott...so maybe that was part of it too. |

Sayid episodes are amazing, but the thing that makes me smile the most in Sayid episodes is the arabic, the arabic is WAY to wierd and the way the actors pronounce the words makes me smile, but given that arabic is a foriegn language to Naveen I'd say he spoke well.
