Have started my rewatch and I noticed this, too. This episode is full of references to choices, mostly coming from Locke. When it was over, I thought "Dang, Locke brought up choices so many times it's like he was an agent of Jacob."

Question Rousseau?

When Shannon is on the beach not paying attention to the time or the treeline when she should be (i hate her so much), is she talking to Danielle Rousseau?

I swear that's her.

Please tell me I'm wrong because that would just be insane. Like, Dharma shark insane. Or John Locke/Nemesis "Terminator logic" insane.

so...clearly its not going to have been rousseau. however...i just watched the scene to see if there was possibly a way to mistake the woman shannon is talking to for danielle....there isnt. haha they both have wavy dark hair....but otherwise...no...... if it had been...that would have been ridiculous.

Rousseau hasn't even been introduced until episode 9 'Solitary'

and they look NOTHING alike, sorry

LOL, I doubt Danielle would bother to talk to Shannon.

The commentary was hilarious. Just watched it today. My favorite was the following interaction during a scene with Charlie wearing a scarf:

Producer (forgot which): I like that scarf, Dominic
Dominic: Yeah, thanks.
Producer: Did you guys beat Hufflepuff that day?

I agree, he definitely had time to make it there and back unnoticed. Irregardless it seems to me, as with the others that have tried drilling this event in to this topic, that his motives were definitely beyond his excuse for knocking Sayid out. I think we're meant to believe that his true motives were his fear of losing his ability to walk. However it's also possible that he had been influenced to do this by the island, perhaps through his encounter with the smoke monster. Though I'm not sure why the island or anyone who knew anything about the island would want to prevent them from finding the tower. It's of no consequence if they find it.

I'm really curious about this: How did Locke know about the distress call? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember anyone telling him about it. Does he have special knowledge, or does he just use it as an excuse after the fact?
