The first 10 minutes is the best scene in the whole series.

Exactly what I thought. That is actually in the recap I wrote.

Wow. It would be really interesting to see Vincent = Mr. X.

My only gripe is how do you explain Vincent in The Incident? Was his soul purged of Mr. X at some point?

Hm...an interesting point. Rose and Bernard couldn't be that interesting.

Well, according to the clock on the forums and the wiki, today is June 1, so I'm considering at least partially begun. I won't be posting my Pilot, Part 1 notes until tomorrow morning, though.

And I agree -- overanalyzation might be a problem.

these are the things that stuck out to me:

1.) a heavy use of black and white colouring, mostly in clothing. Especially Jack and Kate in white, as they oppose Charlie's black colour on their first A-mission

2.) The vincent thing was weird, however: people have theorized that he is the smoke monster or some sort of apparition since the first season anyways, I dont think it has any real weight

3.) Jack's 5 second speech (already been touched on)

4.) Jack appearing out of the bushes at the end after avoiding the monster, for some reason, this scene didnt sit to well with me. However, I highly doubt that Jack has been dead all this time (for various reasons, including his reoccuring flashbacks). It would have been a neat tongue and cheek gesture by JJ and Damon however, as they originally had Jack die in the pilot.

ROTFL. But it was a great ep.

I've seen who knows how many times and I love it every time. Viewed now w/ season 5 behind, I'm still convinced the show's going to end as it started but with the "course corrected," so to speak. So it might not be a scene-for-scene repeat but it will be done from a different angle or just a change up.

Maybe Spoiler Below
we'll see the Others watch the plane fly over and say, Hmm, wonder where they're going, and never see it break up.

LOL, not likely, but it's something to consider before the mystery is dispelled for all time.

In any case, one question remains or is something I wonder about in the scene where Jack, Kate and Charlie took off like their pants were on fire from the cockpit, and they lose track of each other. When they're rejoining each other for the walk back, Jack comes from the bushes and he seems different. I dunno, I just have a feeling something more happened there that we were never told. He has a look on his face. He looks like he's trying to cover something up.

As for Vincent, I will keep repeating that Vincent is a Retriever of Truth. As such he serves as a dog who retrieves or points to places and events that need attending to. And it's a sign to the people on the island or to us to sit up and pay attention.

Every time he shows up something bad or weird happens, but that might just be because it's time for folks to deal with the next thing and they've been too busy being all Jackface or Katestupid. So it's time for the dog to do a course correction.

When you need a job done, get a dog to do it. People muff up all the time. Dogs don't.
